DBD was conceived as an independent resource for anyone to research and learn about Data Breaches and the Cyber Security threats that we all face in today's ever-evolving digital world. In recent months we have been approached by parties who have sought to acquire and commercialise us. We are therefore reiterating our pledge to you, our readers and supporters, that we intend to remain independent and we are not for sale. Global Data Breaches - March 2021

March 2021 saw another 152 Data Breaches reported which accounted for 120.2 Million Data Records reported compromised.

March's total amount of Data Breaches reported increased by over 28% from last month, but the total amount of Data Records reported compromised decreased by over 94% from last month.

The hardest hit sectors were Healthcare, Education and Public Sector, with most breach types continuing to be Cyber Attack, Internal Error and Ransomware, accounting for over 74% of total Data Breaches reported this year.

Currently this takes the yearly totals so far to 352 Data Breaches reported and 3.3 Billion Data Records reported comprised as of the end of March 2021.
